I want to be able to filter products by category (Model of Car) and then have the filter result bring up the other sub categories which the parts are in.

I have tried to use tags as the Model of the car, but this just brings up a page with all the products at random. Is there a way I can change the results of the filter to include categories and sub categories?

I also tried to use categories to filter, but because the parts are in more than one category, I get the same issue.
Is there a way you can think of doing this? I was thinking of maybe customising the search results page to include categories, but I’m not sure if that’s the right way?

The goal is to have a main shop page which just has models of cars. The use would select the model and would then be taken to a page which has further categories broken down into ‘Parts of the Car’, they would be able to select the relevant area they wanted to look in, but the filter would still be in place to only show products which were relevant for the Model they have selected.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

thats pretty complex – and would require a plugin like Search and Filter:

    or FacetWP:
