Hi There,

I wanted to disable dashicons for my entire site. I want to confirm if GP uses it anywhere or if there will be some issues with the theme (frontend or backend) if I disable it.

Thank you :)

Hi there,

the Theme does not use Dashicons on the front end of the site.
WP does use them on the backend for the dashboard icons - so best leave them enabled there.

Thank you David. :)

How to leave them enabled on the backend and disabled on the frontend? :)

There's no need to do anything. That's the way things work by default.

GeneratePress uses either its own font icon (generatepress.woff) or inline SVGs for its icons so no dashicon will appear on front-end. :)

Hi Elvin,

Does that mean Dashicons don't contribute to site speed or loading? Almost all website optimization guides talk about disabling them so I was asking.

They don't if the theme or any plugins are not using it for display on the front end.

Now if your site is being flagged with Dashicons specifically, you may have some plugins that are using it. As we can guarantee that GP isn't using that for its fonts.

Thanks Elvin!

Loved your signature!! :D

Yeah, it's there to remind users. :D

No problem. ;)
