Hello GP Support Team,
Your response time is lightening fast. And your support is excellent. Please forgive me for abusing your good will !
Please see this page which contains three directories: https://understand-culture.com/patterns/ . A friend of mine created them. Via some kind of shortcode. I want to be able to create my own directories/lists.
Can you, please, suggest how I do this? Is this CSS or PHP or is there a GP-friendly plugin which you recommend?
Thank you.

July 6, 2021 at 4:44 am #1846234DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
thats pretty neat – it would have been built with PHP to create the lists and the shortcodes. With some CSS to style it.
Theres not a plugin that i can recommend that does the same thing. How would these other lists differ from the ones you currently have? Or are you just looking to replace those?
July 6, 2021 at 4:53 am #1846245JohnHoly Moses, David, are you fast. Thanks!
You write:
“How would these other lists differ from the ones you currently have? Or are you just looking to replace those?”They would not differ. My friend, Joe, got them right. I am thinking of three things:
First: Joe is a full-time medical doctor in California. He is an autodidact re: websites. I don’t want to continue drawing on his goodwill. And, I want to be in a position to create my own directores at any time.
Second: I want also to know how to design the directories, to give them a different look, should I choose to.
Third: And this is key, when I embed those shortcodes in a page on my new site – http://www.understand-culture.com – they pull posts from the data-base associated with that site, and not from the data-based where they are located. I need to talk to Joe about that.
But, in the meantime, can you explain to me how that works? My operating assumption is that posts can be in a data-base, in this case roughly 80 Q+As, and be pulled from any website, in this case understand-culture.com. Did I get that right?
Thanks.
John
July 6, 2021 at 5:52 am #1846287DavidStaffCustomer SupportSo taking a closer look a the HTML that is being output i managed to track down the plugin being used:
https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/multi-column-tag-map/
That includes a link to the plugins documentation that provides a list of the available options:
https://mctagmap.tugbucket.net
Regarding how it works. It will only work with the website it is installed on. It cannot reach out to a different domain/website and grab its data without their being some API ( Application Programming Interface ) in place that allows the sharing of data.

July 6, 2021 at 6:18 am #1846324JohnWait … one more question on this topic, David:
Can you recommend any plugins for GP which create directories?
John
July 6, 2021 at 6:40 am #1846351DavidStaffCustomer SupportUnfortunately not – just having a nose at that plugin – its really lightweight and has very little CSS which is great.
And the author is very active on the plugins support forum – so he should be able to help restyle it if you need to.July 6, 2021 at 7:00 am #1846375JohnOk.
Thanks, David !John
