Different navigation and sidebars with membership

I currently have a free website and a members website that have duplicate content, but use different navigation and sidebars. Is it possible using Elements to combine the two sites so I only have the content in one place but visitors can see different navigation and sidebars depending on whether they are a member or not? I am new to Elements and am will to learn but just trying to decide if this is a project I can do myself or if I need to hire someone more experienced.
