HI,
wants to know how to design search results page in gp premium ??June 14, 2021 at 11:03 pm #1822364ElvinStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Did you mean the search result page?
You can use GP Premium 2.0’s Block Element – Content template for that.
Design your preferred style with the blocks + dynamic content and set the display rule location to “Search results”.
Please see Leo’s demo here -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8byA37OTBRg
June 24, 2021 at 5:33 am #1833316SourabhTried but failed, that youtube video is not about search result creation (Leo has used a premade template and applied it just, could shown how he made them and how to set dynamic data into it)…
No proper video found on the GP youtube channel, for how to make a custom search result page.
I tried using elements-block but not aware of how to set dynamic data to pull and how to customise it, Looking some proper guidence..
June 24, 2021 at 6:44 am #1833386DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
that video explains the principles of creating a Block Element – Type: Content Template.
Its the same for a Search Results page as it is any other template. As Elvin explained you just need to set the Display Rule location to: Search Results. What you add to the Block Element is up to you. We can’t provide custom design advice.
June 24, 2021 at 6:48 am #1833391SourabhI have not asked about design, I asked for dynamic data customization..how to set specific one ..
June 24, 2021 at 9:00 am #1833710DavidStaffCustomer SupportYou will need to explain what you mean by that.
The video Elvin provided is for creating a Content Template for a Post Loop – which works on any archive template and the search results.July 2, 2021 at 1:08 pm #1842620SourabhRefer snapshot, using that template block from GP template, so unable to set dynamic image there as it’s not enabled (so guide here) how to set it, as uploading from RHS background option setting it into the background.
As far as dynamic data is a concern, So not all corporate websites having blogs posts, featured images or excerpts etc, so users searching mostly keywords, so I want to grab dynamic search results as per input keywords in this format (snapshot), Offcourse pages don’t having featured images or excerpt, so can we pick first hero slider as the featured image of page??? and few texts as excerpt and page title as a clickable link so that it can clickable to reach the desired page…
July 3, 2021 at 3:28 am #1842972DavidStaffCustomer SupportLets break this down into two parts. The theme search template is ‘effectively’ broken into two parts:
1. The Entry Header where it shows the Title of the search.
2. The Loop – where it shows the posts matching the search criteria. To rebuild that template we require 2 x Block Elements, both will have the same Display Rules Location of:
Search Results
:1. A Page Hero to replace the Entry header
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-page-hero/I believe this fairly straight forward and i assume you know how those work.
2. A Content Template to replace the Loop
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-content-template/The video in the above document shows you how to build the template from scratch. I would suggest watching that through.
When it comes to adding Dynamic Data to a template you have:
2 x GP Blocks:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/dynamic-blocks/And these Dynamic Data options:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/dynamic-data/Regarding Pages – The do support Featured Images and Excerpts, see this topic regarding enabling the Manual Excerpt on Pages.
Any other type of data you want to pull in from a post/page that isn’t listed in the dynamic data options would need to be added using a Custom Field and it can be added to the template using the Post Meta dynamic text type.
But i suggest you begin with the video in that doc and get the basics working first.
