Deleted page not removed from menu

Pages are added to the menu (if set that way) but don't seem to be removed when the page is deleted?
You need to remove them from the menu you created in "Appearance > Menus" as well.
Yes, I did that. If it can be done then a nice to have in an update. Seems like it should remove them automatically.
It's core WordPress functionality - not something the theme has control over.
