Default Permalinks from imported site

Hello,
I imported the Prime demo from the site library.
The default permalinks structure seems to be set as /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
Does the index.php serve a purpose? Can I remove it without having any issues?

Nope you can just remove that.
I just used the default permalink structure when creating Prime.
