customizer > typography > widgets not working to change widget title

this is a fresh install with no custom css.
i've disabled my plugins and am pretty certain i've cleared all the caches, but the widget title font will not change when i make adjustments in the typography > widgets panel. the page just refreshes.
when i change things in typography > headings, > nav, and > body , etc. it works, and i can change it with custom css, but not with the customizer. seemed more like a bug. here's a screen recording to show you what happens.

thats the wonderful new Block Widgets in WordPress 5.8 - that decided NOT to support the classic method for outputting widget titles... urgh...
Options:
1. Disable the new Block Widgets:

2. Use the GenerateBlocks plugin, and add your title using a GB Headline Block which you can set a specific font size on.
oh thanks for that bit of code. i've had several sites with issues with the new block editor, so ill just disable it everywhere... i still don't use the block editor in wordpress.... lol
