Customize front (home) page of dispatch theme

I just bought your great theme and went through your documentation. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding out how to properly customize the homepage that the theme is using.

My second problem: I don't know how to customize the look inside an article. When I'm going to this path: Customizing ▸ Layout--> Blog, all the changes that I'm making inside Content/Single are not reflected live on the page. Am I looking at the wrong side?
