Customization and Theme update (non child)

I have not set up a child theme. To change colors, typography, etc, I just started customizing by Appearance/Customize from the dashboard. If I update the theme, will these be effected in any way. the forums out there are unclear to me. I haven't done anything in the editor area.
You're safe! Only code modifications to the parent theme are lost on update.
Anything done inside the Dashboard isn't touched by the update process.
