Customer Element Footer Is Not Showing Across Site
9 replies · Started by David on May 21, 2022
Hi,
I've tried searching for help on this topic before submitting this thread. But, none of the related threads seemed to help. I created a custom footer as Element-Type: footer with the location set to Entire Site, and I cannot get it to show.
I'm rebuilding my site in generate press using a staging area. With all plugins deactivated, the default Generate Press footer showed up. First, I reactivated generate blocks to troubleshoot, and the default footer remained. Next, I reactivated Gutenberg, and the default footer remained. Then, I activated GP Premium, and the issue returned.
I don't understand why the default footer isn't being replaced by my custom element footer when the default footer is disabled.
Hi David,
The element type should be Site footer, not Hook > footer.
Thanks for the reply, Ying. I've had the element type set to this in the past. The footer only shows up on a 'test post' article I made when this type is set. But not on any of my other posts or pages.
Can you make sure the footer is not disabled using the disable element metabox?

Thanks, Leo. That's been done. Currently, I left all of the options unchecked in the disable elements meta box. The funny thing is that the elements menu item on the WordPress admin menu shows that the footer element is on the page, though it's not displayed.
I checked the console. I found a div with the class site footer. Over on the styles tab, its display attribute is set to block. But the only thing inside the site footer div is an empty p tag.
I am sure something in my settings is not configured correctly. Not sure if I'm going down the right path, though.
Hi David,
I tried viewing your site, and from my end, the Site Footer - Block Element seems to be appearing in all pages: https://share.getcloudapp.com/6quzOpwL
To clarify, are you still experiencing the issue? If so, can you try clearing the cache of your browser or try using a different browser?
Kindly let us know how it goes. :)
Hi Fernando,
Yes, I am. I'm rebuilding my site with GeneratePress, within a staging area using WP-Staging. The footer you linked to is for my current site. I used Elementor for that. I'm not having any problems with the current live version, other than the page builder slowing down my site.
The login link is to the version I'm rebuilding with GP inside the staging area.
Hi there,
edit the Element and see here:

Change the Remove container condition to its default of choose
Thanks, David. Looks like that solved it.
Glad to be of help!
