Custom port type for blog showcase or (portfolio widget)

Can you please add a portfolio elements?
It is the same of the blog element, or you can add a drop down in the blog element to select a custom post type to display.
This is really needed for us.
If there is a quick work around you can share how to do that. Or you can take our suggestion above.

That would be plugin territory - not great for in themes.
There's a lot of plugins out there that can do that for you. WP Show Posts might be worth looking at as well :)
