Mark
Hi,
I (an admin) can add Custom HTML blocks with code for Instagram and Twitter without issues. I also center the code and it all works well.
However, when an Author adds the code the preview does not center (and the <center></center> code does not save) and the social content does not display properly – only shows text with “View in Instagram” etc.
If I then go ion and delete the code she added and I add the code, with centering – it all works. In fact other Custom HTML code in the same post will will display properly too, although the <center></center> code needs re-added for tjos other blocks of code.
I don’t know if the issue is caused because she is just an author (I don’t see how it would) or it’s a bug. Can you help?
I added UR:s in the private area but note that it hasn’t been published yet, so I’m not sure that you would see them?

Hi Mark,
The links you’ve provided need login credentials to be viewable.
Moreover, this should be a theme related issue. The HTML Block is a WordPress core Block. Does this occur for one author or all authors?
Can you try creating a new Author user for yourself to test, and login then add the code through that user?

Hi Fernando,
I tried it on my PC with a new author. When I re-add the code including <center> and save, when IK preview it doesn’t work. The edit page refreshes and I see the center code removed for some reason.

To clarify, when you add this code as an admin, does it work?
Can you share the code here?

Yes, I just added as an admin and this (in private) plus all the other Insta shares now display. Of course, the other posts do not have center repopulated, I, as an admin, would have to go in and amend

I see. I found this thread in WordPress forum which may give insight to the issue at hand: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/author-adds-a-custom-html-block-not-working/#:~:text=Author%20level%20accounts
Hope this clarifies!

Thanks for clarifying. You’d think that WP would just not allow the author to add and perhaps add a message! Anyway…

You’re welcome Mark! I guess that depends on what the Author is adding. If the message HTML seems like a security risk, then it likely isn’t allowed.
It might be best to raise a topic in the WordPress forums for more clarification: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

It’s ok, I can add the author as an Editor. The problem is that for some reason the Editor can’t create new posts! Very weird.
That could be something to do with the “Advanced Access Manager” plugin we have activated. I’m not sure, I will need to investigate.

I see. It likely is. That plugin I believe has the capability to change user role capabilities.
Hope it goes well!
