[Resolved] cURL error 28: connect() timed out!

Hi,
I try to set up GP Premium on my site where the host are located in China.
After I key-in the license key, it shows “cURL error 28: connect() timed out!”.
And it won’t let me activate the product.
The problem could be the firewall block your IP. I don’t know, may be I am wrong.
As we know that China have a big powerful Firewall names “Great Wall”.
It blocks outside IP very often.
Any solution on that?

You will likely need to contact your host and make sure they are allowing communication to generatepress.com.

As long as your server can communicate with that address, there shouldn’t be any issues.

Ha~ done.
I change the FTP permission to 777 on wp-content/ plugins and themes directory.
Then press Update button again, finally I saw a miracle Green light.

You likely don’t need 777 – I would check with your hosting.

Tom, you’re right.
I contacted my hosting and the operator told me to switch 777.
I was able to connect once then after 5 mins it’s gone.
I call them again, they told me that was their mistake because the specs of the host which I purchased did not support this kind of connection. (unless I upgrade the product.)
The suddenly connection was operated by their NEW staff and they apologized for that.
Now I understand that if I pay more to upgrade the host then I can obtain more functions.
Well, I’ll just leave it and calculate my pocket to think about that.
At least, they bring me 5 mins happiness. Ha Ha
