Creating post grid

Hi. I saw this post and this is exactly the design I'm looking for (the screendump provided): https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/posts-grid-design/. I want to achieve this with different 'grids' for the categories on the homepage. How do you do that? I have installed WP Show Post.

not easily... you would need to use the WP Show Posts plugin.
And for each 'section' create a list for the Featured Image, and a list for the other posts. In WPSP More settings you can set an Offset value to exclude the first post.
Once thats done the GenerateBlocks plugin Grid Block can be used to create the 2 columns, one for each of the posts lists.
Hi David. Just wanted to follow up on this. If I were to not implement the first post of a category as featured, and simply wanted a grid layout with e.g. six posts within each category, would this be any easier?
I believe it would make it more user friendly for visitors on the front page to be presented with posts within the various categories rather than simply the newest posts. So for instance:
Category 1 h2 title
- post 1 in category 1
- post 2 in category 1
- post 3 in category 1
- post 4 in category 1
- post 5 in category 1
- post 6 in category 1
Category 2 h2 title
- post 1 in category 2
...
- post 6 in category 2
Etc.
In that instance i woulds still use WP Show Posts. But now you just need a WPSP list for each category you want displayed. That list can be set to display 6 posts in a 3 column layout for a specific category term.
Of you can actually create a single list and express what category you require in the WPSP Shortcode. see here:

Each post item has class/selector w/ indicates category on it's article tag. You style it using that w/ custom CSS.
It's not possible to use a Block Element - Content template as that only applies to default post loops of the theme.
But styling WPSP loops should be easier next year as Tom plans to merge WPSP w/ GenerateBlocks. :D
Okay thanks. I'm greatly looking forward to that as I think that would make Generatepress / Generateblocks be able to compete with Elementor. So a great sincere hope for that :-)
The merge of WPSP and GB is set for Q1 of 2022. It's basically the equivalent of having Elementor's Posts widget. :D
