Creating Page Heros: GeneratePress elements or Elementor

I have a site at generatepress.michianait.net
I thought I understood the relationship between Elementor and GeneratePress, but now I am confused.
I understand the use of Elementor in creating pages. However, I am confused when it comes to building headers and footers. I know how to create a Page Hero header element using Generatepress alone, but I don't understand where Elementor comes into this. Do I somehow use Elementor to create the header element, or do I just use Elementor to create site pages? It seems like there is a lot of potential power in Elementor that could be useful in creating Page Heros.
Please give me your take on this.

I see the issue with this seems to be, GP Premium and Elementor having overlaps in features cause you confusion?
My suggestion would be to keep Elementor solely for content layout and let the theme handle Header, Hero section(by using Block Element or Header Element), and the Footer.
Now, this is just personal preference. You can always go full Elementor or no Elementor at all.
My suggestion was solely coming from liking how GP Elements work and finding GenerateBlocks + Gutenberg enough for what I want to do. I find this setup significantly more simple and I don't get Elementor's bloat.
