You can download a GP child theme here: http://generatepress.com/api/themes/generatepress_child.zip. Then I’d recommend looking at the GP Sections Add-on, and use that in conjunction with Tom’s lightweight grid columns plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/lightweight-grid-columns/. That should get you started. Can’t get it to activate; not sure what happened there. Take a look at this page. In the last sentence Download: there is a link to download the child theme. That one should install and activate.
