creating child theme for static front page

Hi,
Can you link me to a tutorial that shows me how to create a child theme with generate press so that I can create a static home page
Ideally I would like the end result to look something similar to this: http://www.whatshesaidblog.com/home/
Is that doable using generate press?
Thank you!
Hi Monique. You should be able to create that with GP. You can download a GP child theme here: http://generatepress.com/api/themes/generatepress_child.zip. Then I'd recommend looking at the GP Sections Add-on, and use that in conjunction with Tom's lightweight grid columns plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/lightweight-grid-columns/. That should get you started.
the child theme zip file isn't workiing when I upload it :(
Just checked the download I gave you. Can't get it to activate; not sure what happened there. Take a look at this page. In the last sentence Download: there is a link to download the child theme. That one should install and activate.
