Hi,
I’m wondering if its possible to have secondary blog, I’d like to create a knowledge base with articles, and so the option would be to create a /kb page and then link it to the secondary blog.
I tried to create it by using a category and a menu link, but it didn’t do what i wanted. The link to the page was automatically setup as /blog/kb. I’m thinking about a page just like the /blog page but with different posts, much like generatepress.com/knowledgebase. how can it set that up? is it a plugin or a separate blog?
I’m wondering between categories & Links, plugins and/or wordpress multi-site
TIA,
RodrigoOctober 11, 2016 at 5:18 pm #234511Jean Paiva DeveloperRodrigo, there’s a few ways to achieve that.
1 – Using your category a good solution might be WP Show Posts, a plugin made by Tom for displaying posts everywhere on your site. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-show-posts/
2 – Also this plugin has a very similar way of GP KB, but I never tested: https://br.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-knowledgebase/
Hope I’ve helped

October 12, 2016 at 12:16 pm #234799RodrigoHi Jean
I’ve looked and tested what you suggested and it seemed promising, but I’m using a static page for my start page and I have a /blog page for my blog posts, so when I created a post, in both cases the links to the posts were all after the /blog. Even though I did create a /kb to display the posts, when i clicked them, their links were /blog/some-post.
I do appreciate your input though, I might end-up buying this other plugin tom created as well. I didn’t know about it.
Thanks again.

October 12, 2016 at 12:31 pm #234802RodrigoHi Tom,
I’ll be looking into it for a while, seems like there is quite a bit to learn about this plugin, so I wonder if it will work with the basic version of your plugin or if I have to buy it before it works like your knowledge base.
I’ve started my own small IT business, and I’m trying to setup a kb for my customers, but I don’t want to manage two separate wordpress installs. I’m using my /blog page to host my postings, and they are totally of mixed topics, from cool little nerdy things people like to talk about to actual regulations and law changes regarding business in general. So I’d like to keep the how-to’s and FAQ’s posts separated from the blog.
PS: I was about to post this reply but I guess you beat me to it

You can create post types without it like this: https://generatewp.com/post-type/
Basically, post types are just like Pages and Posts, but you can name them whatever you want (Recipes, Articles, Games, Concerts etc..).
Then, WP Show Posts can grab the posts from your post type and display them.
