correct way of setting up navigation

Hi support team,
I've been fiddling around with my mobile navigation for a while and I believe I'm making it more difficult than it should be. My desktop navigation layout is the way I want it but my mobile navigation isn't.
I would like to replicate the look of the navigation and search box like THIS website in mobile view. If I'm correct there must be a script for the search box somewhere but I can't find it anymore.
As you can see, I'm pretty close to replicating it.
What would be the correct steps and settings to achieve this layout?
