Copying an element to use as a template

I have created a custom element as page hero header for my home page.
After some trial and error I am starting to appreciate how powerful the elements module actually is.
I am considering a custom element header for every site page.
To speed up this process and maintain consistency I would like to create a basic elements header then copy and amend it.
So to put it simply, is there a way to duplicate an existing element?
