Hey GP,
I have a form on CV and they tell me to contact you as they say it looks like a theme issue. They write: I got a response from our tech/css team looks like it is your theme when I viewed your website on his mobile the entire page doesn’t look correct so I’d recommend you to double-check with your theme provider. This is the element that is causing the issue to your form, looks like there is a large container with a margin pushing the form across:
I would send a screenshot but doesn’t look like any attachments are possible. On mobile, it displays as a single file of letters down the page.
Thanks

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
can you share a link to a page where we can see the issue ?

Just go to any post on mobile at thecashstashers.com. You should see the form displayed as a single file letter. Thanks.

My apologies, the form is at the bottom of the post. Scroll down to the bottom on mobile. Convert kit couldn’t help saying it may be a theme issue. Thanks agian.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Cody,
I’d assume you are referring to this form here?
https://www.screencast.com/t/4lWiNqQGP8If so I can’t see how this would a theme issue.
The entire page including the header and footer are all built with Elementor – I can hardly tell that it’s using GeneratePress.
I would recommend following up with the plugin’s support team to get a better answer.
You can always try activating a Twenty series WP theme to see if the issue occur and show them as well.
Hope this helps 🙂

Leo,
No this isn’t the form. It is the form at the bottom of the post, a lead gen form. It’s only on mobile, so go to thecashstashers.com on a mobile, select any post, scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll see the single-file line.
You know I went to a dev who said they were going to migrate to GP but I needed to retain Elementor for usability. I suspect they quoted me 4 days, found out it would take longer and dumb me bought their story. I wanted to delete Elementor, which is why I got Blocks.
Then another of your techs said no, GB wouldn’t let me create a post that then fell to a second page with a query Eg.: Post on How to Make Money posts on the main page but also goes into the menu under “Make.” They said GP/GB couldn’t do that so I didn’t press it with the dev.
That’s another issue of course. Just want to figure out this one now.

My apologies. However, I still don’t see how that would be a theme issue as the entire page is built with Elementor and theme doesn’t have any control over it.
Can you try disable all plugins except ConvertKit to test first?
Does the issue exist in a Twenty series WP theme?
When plugin support says “it may be a theme issue”, it usually means they don’t know why this is happening most of the time.
Therefore we need to go through some debugging tips as I mentioned above.
Thanks.

This wasn’t plugin support it was the tech team at convertkit. They couldn’t resize the form on their end and suggested contacting the theme dev.

Let me work on disbabling all the plugins. I just did that today for Elementor as I cannot change the link color no matter how many color style changes I make. I’ll get back tomorrow after I work on that. Thanks.

So let me ask you one more thing. I got the premium version to get away from Elementor. Now my page speed is very fast, like 97, but I wanted to migrate to GP/GB. The dev said it would hurt usability. True, or not true?

StaffCustomer SupportHi Cody,

I’ve dived deep within the page’s source code and the actual style seems to be generated externally. Basing on its pattern and where it showed it (it’s inside the content, right before the actual element), it’s likely from the plugin or its shortcode.
This particular style is the one directly involved with the sizing of the form. (max-width: 740px)
.formkit-form[data-uid="588ec484ee"] { box-shadow: 0px 4px 8px rgb(105 113 119 / 20%); max-width: 740px !important; overflow: hidden; }So let me ask you one more thing. Not exactly sure what the dev meant w/ “usability” but if he meant “ease-of-use”, then in some sense, he’s right.
Elementor’s UI is quite nice. It’s easy to learn but it adds to much elements that aren’t exactly necessary and that makes the site’s performance significantly slower.
Meanwhile, GP+GB uses WordPress default editor (Gutenberg Editor) which is easy to learn too. While it’s also true that it lacks more feature than Elementor, it will surely perform faster.
There are cases where Elementor is better vs. GB+GP, i.e. niche features/widgets, but if you don’t really need most of the widgets Elementor uses then you’re better off with GP+GB. 🙂

Thanks Elwin, I think the fastest fix is to select a smaller form and replace this one. Also thanks for the heads up on Elementor vs GB. I basically paid to get my page speeds up but they didn’t do what I requested, migrate over to GB.
