Hey guys,
I use GeneratePress but recently I discovered that my contents shift each time I reload post pages. And it was like that before. Please, how do I adjust this back to normal? This has increased my site first contentful paint (FCP) and thus affect the site negatively.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Any chance you can disable all plugins except GP Premium to eliminate conflicts from other plugins first?
Let me know 🙂

Sure, I have done that.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Can you try and see if disabling Lazy Load on images improve the CLS?
Also, your site gets “Image elements do not have explicit width and height” flag which can also contribute to this. The issue is pertaining to the desktop.
Can you tell us what GeneratePress and GP Premium version are you using? Can you also try removing > reuploading > re-applying the logo?

Thanks for your response. Please how do I add width and height to the image element?
The GP version is 2.0.3
And how do I go about the removing > reuploading > re-applying the logo?

StaffCustomer SupportThe GP version is 2.0.3
Ah that’s why. That’s pretty outdated. GeneratePress 2.x.x had issues with logo’s image element not having width and height attribute.
To fix this, update your GeneratePress theme to the latest official release. ( GeneratePress 3.0.4 )
And then secure a copy of the logo because you’ll have to remove the currently applied logo to the site and re-add it again so the image attributes get applied.
To do
removing > reuploading > re-applyingof the logo, go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.Remove the current logo that is assign there, upload the copy of the logo you have and then assign this newly uploaded logo as the new logo for the site.
Note: You must update to
GeneratePress 3.0.4GP Premium 2.1.0 beta beforeremoving > reuploading > re-applyingthe logo.October 12, 2021 at 11:06 pm #1961703Theodore
Thanks for your swift response. I have updated to version 3.0.4 and remove>> reupload>>reapply. The clear cache also.
How do I set image width and height for the image element as earlier suggested

StaffCustomer SupportAh I’m sorry my bad. GP Premium was the one I meant for the update. (The v3.0.4 theme is fine. you can leave it as is)
I meant update GP Premium 2.0.3 to the latest beta which is GP Premium 2.1.0 beta – https://share.getcloudapp.com/eDugz5RJ
Missing image width and height was a known bug on 2.0.3 which was patched on the latest beta version (GP Premium 2.1.0)
After updating the GP Premium plugin, do
removing > reuploading > re-applyingfor the logo. It should automatically add the image width and height attributes to the logo images. After doing this, disable lazy load on autoptimize as well.
Let us know once you’ve applied these. We’ll recheck Google PSI report on your site again and see if it improves and check further for any improvements. 🙂

Thanks for this swift response. What I have in my dashboard is beta version 3.0.1 beta 1. Should I proceed with that because it’s different from the version in the suggestion.
Should I proceed with that? If yes! Do I have to uninstall the old beta version to upload this? Won’t it distort the initial settings?

Ideally, if you can, let’s try to use all the latest beta versions. (GP Premium 2.1.0 and GP 3.1.0beta-1)
Normally, there shouldn’t be any need to uninstall the old versions. The new one overwrites the old one and the settings should carry over.
But to be on the safe side, always keep a back up. 🙂
