Been using GP premium for a few years and love it. Thought I was getting the hang of everything, but I was adding a new header element to a new wp install and there is NO content box. There is normally a row / section when creating a new header where you can add things like the page title or some text etc. but it just isn’t there?!! Probably something dead simple I’ve forgotten, but tried deactivating everything except GP but it makes no difference.. hope you can help!

    Hi there,

Can you show me a screenshot of what you are referring to here?

    Hi Speedy,

Have you added any content in the content area of this header element?
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/#content-1

If not, can you try adding<!--- comment --->in it to test?

Thanks Ying, but that is the box “content box” that is missing from the build your header page! So I can’t add anything in there. Because it isn’t there…..

Oh right… that’s odd.. sorry can’t believe I missed that, need a new pair of glasses for sure…

Can you try disable all plugins except GP premium to test?

Switch back to the parent theme if you are using a child theme.

    Let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Ying – have checked another of my sites that I know was good and the same situation there, which is making me wonder if I’ve gone mad (quite possible) or if there’s a bug in the latest version. See latest post about trying to track down a previous build to test!

    Cheers

OK – managed to track down an older version of GP premium from another site backup. Installed it on my problem site and Voila – content box is back and everything working as expected.. so… is there a bug causing this in the latest 2.0.3 and can it be fixed???

We are not aware of this bug currently. I just tested this in a fresh installed using the latest versions and couldn’t replicate the issue:

Can you disable all plugins except GP premium to eliminate any plugin conflicts from elsewhere?

Also, I would highly recommend using the new block element page hero to replace header elements now:
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-page-hero/

A block element page hero can achieve anything that a header element is capable of and much more.

The only usage of a header element now is the merge option which can be handled separately:
