The documentation at https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/ is wrong. “When you add the block by itself, you’ll see the Layout panel below…” It then describes several options that are not available: Container, Inner Container, Container Width, Element Tag. Tested on vanilla WP install with Twenty Twenty Three, and one using GeneratePress Pro.

    Hi Greg,

The options have changed since GB 1.7.0 and we are still working on the documentation – it’s taking a bit long as we are changing the structure of the documentation as well.

I believe these two articles are what you are looking for:
    https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/layout-options-overview/
    https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/sizing-options-overview/

Feel free to let me know the specific problems you are running into and I can try to explain. A link to your site will help as well.

    Let me know 🙂

Even as an experienced developer, I find it unintuitive and rather cumbersome to create a full-width section (e.g., for a background color) with fixed-width content with this new system, and I think it is basically impossible for the average website editor. You have to add what appear to be redundant elements (Container block inside another Container block). Without the List View open, it’s pretty unclear whether you have the inner Container selected or the outer Container. You have to go to two separate areas to set the width and center the inner Container. You have to type in “auto” for the left and right margins, even though “px” (or “em” or “%”) is set as the unit. From the looks of it, the old system was quite straight forward. Some shortcut to accomplish all this in the new system would be very beneficial.

Not sure if I fully understand. Sounds like you just need to add an inner container.

If that doesn’t help, can you link me to the page of what you are trying to create so I can inspect it?

The new system is definitely a bit more complicated than the old system but it’s so much more powerful and captures basically everything Flexbox has to offer – it’s basically a CSS writer now.
