Comment section on custom post type

Hi,
I have a custom post type that I am creating on a new website. The custom post type is built with support for comments.
'supports' => array( 'title', 'editor','excerpt', 'thumbnail','comments'),
However, Generatepress doesn't seem to care and show the section. Is there some filter I am missing on a GP level to have the basic comment section?

are you using a custom template for your custom post type ?
No, it is pretty stock.

Oops. Finally, my mistake.
I created the post before I added support for comments so the post just had comment disabled.
I feel stupid but the good news is that it works very well natively.
