Colored bar behind navigation

How do I create a colored bar behind my primary navigation? Like this: https://gillandrews.com/about/
Please note: I do not mean the primary navigation background colors. This only changes the background of the navigation menu and doesn't create a bar.
Hi there,
you would use the Primary Navigation background colors, and reduce the Menu Item Height.
As long as the navigation is floated inside the site header ( or has some padding via CSS to increase the nav height ) then it will create that effect.
