CLS On product images (Product Pages)

I am facing this problem both on desktop and mobile!
As per David's response, i formed a new thread for this, even though I think my problem is similar to this https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/cls-high-on-default-templates-product-pages/#post-1840757 but the solution doesnt work for me!
And i dont think it is css issue, maybe something to do with how the product-image html element is being loaded???
(P.S.: i have tested with all optimization plugins off and still the same problem, i also have tested with gp-main theme and not my child to be sure its not something i have done!)
I have already tested disabling any kind of plugin that would potentially have anything, to do with this!
You can switch to gp main theme instead of my child theme so you can take a closer look without any modifications i might have on my child theme!
Hi there,
maybe something to do with how the product-image html element is being loaded???
If that's the case, then it would be a WooCommerce issue and not a theme issue.
We will need to strip it all down to debug an issue like this.
1. Try disabling all plugins (not just some) and activate a child theme. Does the issue exist?
2. I just ran a Lighthouse test on a simple product page from Seller and the CLS issue is 0:
https://gpsites.co/seller/product/happy-ninja-hoodie/
3. If the issue still exists when you do #1, can you activate a Twenty series WP theme to test?
I did disable all plugins except woocommerce!
Of course there wasn't a problem when i had only woocommerce on!
The next plugin i reactivated and immediately saw my issue was gp premium!
After activating gp premium i saw the cls problem both with my child theme and also when i activated generatepress main theme!
I have given you credentials to look for yourself!
Also i really am trying to come to terms with the support mentality that gp has the last year... When you guys started you went above and beyond for any support query and you tried at least once to look the problem and offer a solution even if it was a minor customization and not a problem per say...
Nowdays i never feel you actually look at the webpage in the first replies, only maybe later, if the ticket is active for a few days...
The first thing i get is that it is a plugin problem or woocommerce problem and that's that!
I really hope you continue to help people offering at least some insight in their queries before rejecting them with it's not our problem attitude!
You were for me one of the best support forums out there, and sadly to say i can't say that anymore!
With your replies also it is apparent that you are so confident on how gp works, that maybe if this is your support spirit now, which is what most companies do to save time and effort, then just close support, there is no need for it, cause the answer always is i tested gp default theme and there isn't an issue!
Normally when a user uses your plugin/theme it isn't all about how your plugin/theme does on its own, its also about it's behavior with other factors/plugins!
I know that a lot of queries may fall out the scope of support, but once you tried, i dont believe you do anymore!
I understand if you dont want to continue helping me with these after my reply, but i really wanted to let you know how i felt, cause i am with you for 3 years now, maybe more... and i have seen how gp support was and i really miss that!
I have suggested gp countless times just because of your support and how helpful for any kind of query it was...
Thank you for your time reading this!
An old gp fan...
Hi there,
Regarding our level of support, we appreciate your feedback and we're sorry to hear you feel that way. But please consider this request and many of your requests are not 'standard' support topics - i refer you to this document:
https://generatepress.com/what-support-includes/
The more time we commit to helping out of scope requirements ultimately impacts the service levels we aim to achieve for all our customers. We have to find a balance and prioritise our support accordingly, this sometimes means that a topic response is delayed.
In regards to Leo's response - this is very much the standard approach of debugging issues. You should apply and extend this method to isolate the problem. You state that the CLS issue immediately occurs when you enable GP Premium. So the next step is to identify which module is causing the problem. Quickly looking at your site i see a LOT of Hook elements that add content and custom css.
I would suggest you disable the Elements module and re-test the site. If there is an improvement then you will need to isolate which Element(s) are causing the problem.
If you can narrow down the issue then we may be able to advise on how to fix it.
Thank you for your answer David, but this problem doesn't seem to me out of scope at all...
After a lot of testing, i found out that disabling elements all together from gp's module activator/deactivator didnt fix the cls problem of the product image element being none existent at first milliseconds and then pushing to the right all elements...
test page (elements disabled sitewide): https://softe.kinsta.cloud/%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%84-%CE%BF%CE%AF%CE%BA%CE%BF%CE%BD-%CE%BD%CE%BF%CF%83%CE%B7%CE%BB%CE%B5%CE%AF%CE%B1/%CE%B2%CE%BF%CE%B7%CE%B8%CE%AE%CE%BC%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%AC%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%B7%CF%82/%CE%B1%CE%B5%CF%81%CF%8C%CF%83%CF%84%CF%81%CF%89%CE%BC%CE%B1/aerostroma-katakliseon-me-aerokipseles-ac100/
Please tell me how to proceed!
Thank you.
I just disabled all your Optimization plugins:
Shortpixel
Asset CleanUp Pro
PerfMatters
Redis
WP Rocket
I left the Elements disabled.
And run a PSI Test here:
The result being 0 CLS
