Child theme not working in customizer

Hi, I have uploaded and activated the generatepress_child.zip child theme. I have not edited the style.css & functions.php files but the page content does not load in the customizer, eventually throwing an error message "munchease.staging.wpengine redirected you too many times." Page content shows up fine in the front end and if I activate the GeneratePress parent theme the customizer works fine. Please advise. Thank you.
You may want to contact WP Engine support about this - it sounds like some sort of server/redirection issue on their end.
