First, thanks for creating an easy-to-customize clean theme. I had used Parabola for a previous site, and that was fine, but for a new ecommerce (subscriptions only) site, I had first tried Themify and found it unnecessarily complex and difficult to wrangle. (I’m a former WP site contributor but newbie site creator.) I now have everything set up design-wise the way I want it, including social share widgets, but just as I’m getting ready to add my subscription and payment gateway plugins, I’m wondering if I really need to create a child theme.
I’ve read through the other child theme discussion threads, and it seems that I’m “safe” so far in that I’ve only used the customize tools and a few basic plugins (like Contact Form 7), and I believe the only shortcodes are part of those plugins.
Before I add the ecommerce capability, I want to be sure I’m not going to regret creating a child theme first, but I also don’t want to start from scratch, and creating a child theme might be just beyond my abilities/time/patience right now.
I’d appreciate your advice on this. (BTW, I got to visit the eagles in Squamish last December, and I’m using a shot from that trip on my home page. Born in BC and still love it!)
