Hi
do I need to use a child theme with new update?
when I add a child theme it shows a note that GP Premium requires GeneratePress to be your active theme.
Thanks for help
Hi there,
No you do not have to use a Child Theme.
You only require a Child Theme if you want to create your own templates or replace existing theme templates and functions.
As long as you still have the GeneratePress Theme installed and you have used the starter child theme provided here:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-child-theme/#installing-a-child-theme
Then there should be no problems
the child theme here is 2.4 its a little different than 3
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-child-theme/#installing-a-child-theme
1. You install GeneratePress from the WordPress repository and activate it
2. You manually install the Child Theme Zip file and activate that.
It doesn't matter whether you're using 2.4 or 3.0
manually install
for me, its matter what version it is just because the new version works way better for me and I also need the control in customizer flexbox SVG, etc,,
also need to add few functions
hope there is a solution for that
thanks
As i said it doesn't matter which Theme version you have installed.
That child theme zip will work for either.
And this article i linked to explains how you manually install the child theme:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-child-theme/#installing-a-child-theme
If I install 3.0 and activate this. no matter what child theme I install here after, the one I used already, or a new one from your link provided. The version of GP goes back to 2.4. any tips?
How are you installing the v3.0 ?
