Child Theme: Edit the CSS via "Additional CSS" or edit the style.css file?

Hi,

I downloaded the GeneratePress child Theme and I would like to add my custom css via "Customize -> Additional CSS."

The questions are:

1. If I update the Parent theme do I loose this CSS?
2. Is better if I edit directly the style.css file instead?
