child product category template not the same as parent

As per title, parent category templates are fine, they use the sidebars as selected in the Cuztomize settings,
however the 2nd tier or 'child' categories are without the sidebars and have the default filter dropdown (is this the woo template defaulting?)

If this is default behavior then that is fine, I can add filter to template_include and get the archive.php ?
