Changing the directory name for theme

Heya, so the site is almost ready to go but the boss doesn't want "generatepress" in the theme URL of the live site. He wants our site name instead. I tried switching to another theme temporarily, renaming the GP theme directory, then reactivating GP. But this killed all my custom setting changes. Any less painful way of doing this?
... dont get behind the reason for this to be honest.
but anyway - changing the original theme name doesnt seem to be a good idea :)
you might try with a child theme and name it whatever you want. far better solution imho.
Changing the folder name shouldn't remove any settings. Although, you may need to reset the logo and copyright options.
However, it will prevent you from getting any future updates to the theme.
