Change to image captions

Hi
Adding image captions has just become a step or two more complicated, for example:
In block editor, the image is now full size and title attribute is no longer added as the default caption
After adding a caption manually I can not edit in visual mode, I have to switch to code view and then all breaks <br /> have to be added whereas the enter key would do this by default in visual editor.

Is this a result of a wp update or generate blocks, or both?

Also, this has always been an issue, having the same link for an image and its caption requires adding the link to both elements. Is there a way around this other than an inline image centred?

Thank you

Hi there,

if its the core WordPress Image block, then that would be WordPress.
GP doesn't interfere with the core blocks logic or how it handles this kind of thing.

For the caption you should be able to edit that block directly in the visual editor:

Does that not work?

If you use a GenerateBlocks Image Block, then the Caption is its own separate block, and you can enable its Dynamic Data options and choose from Caption, Title, Alt-Tag and Description as its content.

Thanks David
It seems I have previously been using WP Image Block and have, today, mistakenly used GeneratBlocks Image Block which explains the confusion.

I have been using GeneratePress for 2 years and didn't realize there was this option. We live and learn :)

Thanks again

The Image Block was a fairly recent addition to GB as we needed it for the Dynamic Date for building Query loops :)

Glad to be of help.
