/wp-content/themes/generatepress, correct. I seems to work fine..? 😉December 18, 2015 at 12:56 pm #160939TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
Can you paste the contents of that file into pastebin (http://pastebin.com/) and share them with me? Renaming that file will work until you update and have to rename it again.December 18, 2015 at 1:18 pm #160947PatrickDecember 18, 2015 at 6:11 pm #160966TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
All of the translations functions are there as far as I can see – you shouldn’t have to rename anything.
From looking at your site, the search widget is using the GeneratePress searchform.php – are you sure you’re not using a child theme or something?
If the searchform.php file doesn’t exist, you would have a much different looking search form in that widget.December 19, 2015 at 1:18 am #160980Patrick
I am really not sure and don’t know what to look for, sorry. Only GP Theme and the three main WP Themes are installed. I am using the following plugins:
Contact Form 7
After renaming the file again, the english translation is back.December 19, 2015 at 11:53 pm #161081TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
That is super weird, and you’re changing the language in “Settings > General”? I can’t reproduce the issue on my end.
Let’s wait for this next update and let me know if updating reverts it back to English, if so, I’ll dig a little deeper 🙂December 20, 2015 at 12:06 am #161085Patrick
I think I got it. At first I wanted to build the website in English, then I decided to switch over to German.
Now I switched from “German/Sie” (polite form) to “German/Du” and that worked?! Perhaps WP didn’t get the setting when I switched the language a couple of days ago?December 20, 2015 at 12:08 am #161086TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperDecember 20, 2015 at 12:13 am #161088Patrick
Yes, that’s it. I can reproduce the issue:
German (Sie) > english text
German > german text
Thanks for the hint and the help!December 20, 2015 at 12:14 am #161089TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
No problem – if you end up adding some translations you can send them over if you want and I’ll add them to the core theme so you won’t lose any translations when you update.
Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
