Hello team, I am not sure this is a right platform to ask this question because this is related to future development. I did not find any place to add my whishlist so I am just asking here.
Your license activation system is quite old and unsafe. Guess, I am a developer and I activate a license on my client site. later on, that client gain some technical knowledge and he easily can inspect element and retrive license key and sell it to others. This can make license abuse issue and it can block/create issue to our account too.
All I am saying is, can not you create your license system just like elementor pro? In elementor pro, when we install elementor pro file on wp admin area. Then after activation there will be a line appear which says “Connect & Activate”. If we click on it, then it headed us to elementor login area. After login, it automatically connect license to site. Which means we have no worry about license misuse.
I know it will take alot of time to implement such type of system but I am not in hurry. Any good news for me? 😀February 6, 2022 at 6:37 pm #2107570Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
This is a cool idea – we’ll definitely take a look to see if it’s something we can offer instead of the current system.
Thanks!

Hello tom, thank you for you reply. I was a bit busy in COVID. So it was difficult for me to reply on time. The main reason why I suggested you this because you are loosing if not millions but atleast thousands dollars because of a bug lying in this licenses installation process. I am sure it is bug(atleast for me). You can take a look and try this trick, if you found it as a bug, then reward me some. Hahaha. I am explaining in details here:
Guess, I purchased GenerateBlocks one site license in 40$(for one year). But you know what, I can use this license in multiple site same time. Yes, you heard correctly, multiple site at SAME TIME.
Trick is this: I install one license in my main site i.e. xyz.com. Then after installation, I go to generateblocks.com, login in my account, go to dashboard, and deactivate license key. From dashboard, it shows I have deactivate license key, but when I go to again my site xyz.com and then in wp admin dashboard>>>generateblocks dasbhboard, license still show activate. I can still work on my site xyz.com by using generateblocks pro’s modules. As Now my license is free, I can go to my staging site stage.xyz.com and install gb pro and actiavte license key. Surprise is that I can install and actiavte license key here too. Now can work on stage.xyz.com with gb pro modules. Then I head back to my generateblocks official site’s account, and there I again deactivate license key i.e. stage.xyz.com. From official site’s account, I have deactivate license key and now my license key is free but in reality, this license key is still showing activated in my site stage.xyz.com. Which means I can work on my both site i.e. xyz.com and stage.xyz.com with a single license key at same time and yet my license key is still free for using third times. And believe me, I can update gb block pro plugins too.
Same trick goes to my third site, third.stage.xyz.com too. If I can actiavte a single license multiple times then why I need to purchase more license?
I am sure, a lot of people know this trick and they are using too. This way you are loosing atleast thousand dollars per year.Note: xyz.com is not my site. I use this as a demo to tell you how this trick works.
That is why I asked you to update your license installation system and try to make it like elementor pro. In elementor pro, If I go to my elementor official site and deactivate license there, and now if I go to my official site xyz.com, then here license will go deactivate automatically. I can not use pro modules any more. On top, it start showing “connect and activate”. and meaning of this I have already explained in my first message.
Now if you find this trick useful, and you are also sure that this is actually bug and you intended to rectify this, then do it. But before doing this, reward me a lifetime license of Generateblocks pro. Hahaha.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
That’s not exactly how it works. People can actually use all of our plugins without the license key. The license key is only for the update process.
When you activate your license key, it stores the URL where it was activated. When you proceed with an update, it verifies that the URL is correct before the update happens.
If you log into your account and remove the URL (so you can activate your key on another site), that verification process fails and you won’t be able to update the plugin.
Hope this helps! 🙂
