I’m trying to get my site centered so that no mater what page someone is on it will not scroll to the left ore the right. Basically I’d like it to be horizontally stationary. I’ve had this problem in the past but it was just with the padding of the header. I checked that and I believe it’s where it should be.

    Hi Jim,

This is happening because the “panels” you’ve added. Not sure what method/plugin you are using to create them but you want to make sure each of them has the same container width and no excess padding and margin added to left and right.

That being said, I would recommend building that page with GP’s Sections add-on and Tom’s lightweight grid columns:

    https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/lightweight-grid-columns/

Let me know if you need more info.

I’m having a hard time using the sections adding. I am trying to use it but when it opens for me to open a section I can’t get any farther. I’ve tried to use the visual part of it but haven’t had any luck. Are there any tutorials on how to use it? Also the grid sounds good. Is it easy to use?

The video at the bottom of the page (https://docs.generatepress.com/article/sections-overview/#video-overview) should provides a quick walk through.

Lightweight grid column shouldn’t be hard to use either.

Let me know if you get stuck.

Yes I see that but when I get to to the edit section part I can’t select visual it’s stuck on text.

    Sounds like a javascript error.

Can you try #1 on this page: https://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/debugging/

    Let me know.

Ok, Here is where I’m at. I couldn’t get the section addon working properly so I rebuilt the front page so that I could find out what was causing the side to side problem. I found and fixed that but I have a couple of problems.

Below the primary menu and above my picture there is a white space that I would like to get rid of.

The two side by side paragraphs are very small and I would like them to be wider? I’ve tried to find some sort of margins to adjust but haven’t had any luck.

The buttons are misaligned but I will be able to fix that one the paragraphs are the correct size.

Thank you for you help. I am opening the site so you can look at it. Any help is appreciated.

    – For the white space, can you try to disable Content Title using the Disable Element metabox on that page?
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/disable-elements-overview/

    – For the width, try changing the Container Width: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/container-width/

    Let me know.

That fixed the white space issue. After realizing it was caused by the missing page I thought duh.

Changing the container width would fix the other problem but it creates the oversized page problem where the whole page moved side to side.

In order to make the texts wider, the container needs to be wider.

There are lots of space at both sides of that panel so I would assume you can reduce the margin or padding in the plugin.
