Centering captions

Hi there,
I would like to center my captions.
I have the following code in my Simple Custom CSS:
.wp-caption .wp-caption-text {
font-size: 16px;
font-style: italic;
text-align: center;
}
When I am in the editing side panel, the captions appear as centered, but as soon as I reload the page outside of the customisation options or view it on another device/window, the captions are no longer centred. Please help! :)
