Sam
Hi,
I’m using a custom Content-Template for my blog post (the actual blog post).
At the top of that Content-Template is a dynamic image I’m getting from a custom field. I want to add a caption to that dynamic image if possible.
Any tips?December 5, 2022 at 1:05 pm #2450776Ying
StaffCustomer SupportHi Sam,
Are you using the GB image block? If so, select the image block, then click the CC button of the float toolbar, it will add a caption below the image if there’s a caption set in the media library.

It’s ID now, but I tried both, and neither one works.

StaffCustomer SupportI’m not seeing a caption set for the images in the media library:
https://www.screencast.com/t/7wpNoiOuOAGCan you try adding something in the caption field to test?

Dear Ying, this image (the featured image you referred to in your screenshot) is not the dynamic image I’m using in the blog post I sent you. I’m using a dummy/placeholder gray image with some generic text, which is being pulled from a custom field.
Kindly check the video and the blog post I linked to below the admin access link in the private field from my earlier reply.

StaffCustomer SupportHave a look now – i think its working 🙂
The steps which i need to test locally were:
1. Add an Image block , and select an image from the Media library. Don’t enable dynamic data yet.
2. Add the Caption and enable its Dynamic data for Caption of current image.
3. Then enable the Image Blocks Dynamic Data to show the Post Meta.Documentation: http://docs.generatepress.com/

Fantastic!
I wouldn’t have thought of enabling the dynamic field of the caption before making the image block dynamic. I thought they were just one entity, and activating the dynamism of one would trigger the other, but I am glad it’s working.
thank you so much for your help David.

StaffCustomer SupportIt kinda shouldn’t require those steps, so ill see what we can do to make it more intuitive
