Can't View Admin Panel When Writing

Hi there:

I'm not sure if this is an issue with GP or the new version of WP. But When I go to Posts---> Add New (or any post for that matter) I can't view the admin sidebar. I tried everything that would normally resolve this type of issue, but it doesn't seem to be working. I really like being able to access this when in writing mode in WordPress.

Can you help?

Regards,

Ron

Hi there,

are you using the Block Editor ?
If so can you see a Cog icon in the Top Bar when editing a post ? If so click that to open the Sidebar.

Hey David:

I see the cog on the right-hand side that toggles the settings for the post and each individual block if it's selected. However, I'm referring to the navigation (left) sidebar panel that WP typically has on every page. When I'm editing, I can no longer toggle it to appear or show up on the page.

How would I fix that?

Regards,

Ron

Aah ok, from the 3 dot menu in the top bar, Click to uncheck the Fullscreen mode ( distraction free ) option.

Wow, that was pretty easy. I don't know why I couldn't find the information for this elsewhere but I couldn't.

I'm guessing in one of the previous updates, WP set that to default in the settings because I used to be able to see it. Only I haven't needed it until now.

Anyway, thanks so much David.

Ron

Yep - WP 5.8 introduced some of these changes, what was a user optin before suddenly became default.
Glad to be of help!
