Can't publish posts using the block editor

I just tried this with all other plugins disabled but it is still the same.

When I click publish, it just reverts to saying 'auto draft' in the title and all the content disappears (and it doesn't publish).

Does the same issue happen in a Twenty series WP theme?

I have not heard of this unfortunately.

Are you using the latest version of WordPress?

You could try checking with your hosting support to see if they can help identifying the issue.

Please use the Twenty series theme to show them so they can't blame GP.

I read that this error can be caused by 'REST API' not being available - but on my 'tools > site health check' it says it's available.

Hello again,

I spoke to my host about this and they said that my site should work fine, that the server setup is all OK, and to talk to my developer.

However, I tested the site on a staging (WP Stagecoach) site and the block editor works fine. I can't really understand why it wouldn't be host/server-related if it works fine on a different server.

Basically what happens is: classic editor works fine. But on the block editor, if I write a title and some content and then click save draft/publish, it looks like it is saving but then it doesn't, the content disappears, and the title changes to "auto draft."

I realize this problem isn't because of Generate Press at all (it happens when I try the default WP theme), but as I don't have a developer and I have very little technical knowledge, I just wondered if anyone with more technical knowledge might be able to point me in a helpful direction or to somewhere else I might be able to get help with this?

I'd really appreciate any advice.

The site is running an old version of PHP 7.1 - might be best to get that updated to at least 7.4 - we can then eliminate whether that is the cause.
