cannot update plugin gp premium from 1.5.6 to 1.6.2

"You have version 1.5.6 installed. Update to 1.6.2"
When I click to update it it fails and says:
"An error occurred while updating GP Premium: Update package not available."
Its been like this a few days.

I can't upgrade either -- says it's not authorized, even though my license is good for the remainder of April 2018. Then when I went to delete the plug-in to try from scratch, it gives the scary warning that it's going to delete "All its data" too, and I don't want to lose my settings/customizations.
How to upgrade?
