Cannot make edits in HTML mode in Classic Paragraph
6 replies · Started by Greg on December 11, 2020
Hi,
Today I noticed unusual behavior when using Classic Paragraph. When I switch to HTML mode by clicking "Edit HTML" from the block edit options above and, say, add a 'nofollow' tag to an anchor link, then return to Visual mode, the entire Classic Paragraph disappears.
I must hit 'Undo' otherwise it's gone forever. Strange thing is, 'Undo' does bring back my change, so am guessing there is some extra step going on behind the scenes.
Before writing here, I moved the site to a staging server, deactivated all plugins one by one, but none seemed to be causing this hence I'm writing about it here.
Hi there,
Can you test if the same issue occurs when using a twenty series WP default theme?
Let me know :)
I activated the Twenty Twenty theme and did the same procedure: edit any given Classic Paragraph in HTML mode, then switch back to visual mode.
Again, the paragraph disappears entirely, as with the GP theme.
If the same issue occurs in Twenty Twenty as well then it's definitely a WordPress issue.
Can you report it to WordPress' support team first?
Let me know :)
Thanks - where/how is the best way to report this to the WP team?
Alright, I found the culprit: the site automatically updated to WP 5.6, without me knowing since previously I had turned these automatic updates off.
No problem :)
