Cannot convert posts from classic editor to blocks

I started using the Gutenberg editor recently and everything was working very well, until yesterday. I've been trying to convert some of the posts I initially published with Classic Editor to Gutenberg blocks, but it's not working.

Nothing happens when I click the "convert to block" button.

Please, what might be the reason for this? And what can I do to solve it?

Hi there,

the Theme has no control over the editor - thats a core WP function. Generally if this happens its because some of the Content is not parseable by the block editor.

If you can create a test page in classic editor and add just some plain text - does the Convert to Block work ? If it doesn't work then try disabling plugins to see if there is a conflict.

If it does work then it means something in your other post content cannot be converted. And you would probably need to manually recreate that content in blocks.

Hello!
I think I have a similar problem. When I create a reusable blog in Gutenberg, it gets converted to the Classic Editor after I save it (even though I don't have that installed anymore).
I only have this problem with the GeneratePress theme. So I'm not sure if it has to do with the theme?

Do you know the problem?

Thanks for your answer!
Roman

Hi there,

does the page editor switch to the Classic Editor - or does it just output the content in Classic editor block ?

Hi David,

Only the block turns into a classic editor block. Page editor stays normal.
But only when I turn a block content into a reusable block.

This is unlikely related to the theme. You can actually test this by changing to a default WordPress theme like twenty twenty one and check if the issue still occurs.
