Cannot change default text on Home page (using Charge Template)
5 replies · Started by Bob on May 10, 2020
Hello,
I just bought GeneratePress Premium today.
I’m using the “Charge” Premium Template.
I really like the look and feel of it for what I’m trying to do.
My problem:
After playing with Gutenberg (I think), the dashboard, and even installing Elementor, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change anything but the header in the home page. Even when I installed Elementor, it allowed me to edit other pages, but I can neither (1) find my home page to edit or (2) edit the home page.
I am embarrassed and it seems ridiculous that I cannot edit the line on the middle of the homepage of the Charge Template that reads: “Capture Your Client With This GeneratePress Site."
Nor can I get rid of the “lightning bolt” icon.
I’m pretty computer savvy and I’ve been at this for hours.
My question:
What am I doing wrong?
This must be an easy change, or am I using a bad template?
Thank you for any help you can provide,
Bob
Hey Bob,
The home page of Charge is the posts page so it cannot be edit with the free version of Elementor explained in #1 here:
https://docs.elementor.com/article/56-content-area-not-found
As for the "Capture Your Client With This GeneratePress Site.", that's created with a header element as explained in the Header Element/Page Hero section here:
https://gpsites.co/charge/?page_id=43
Let me know if this helps :)
Thanks Leo,
I know see that -- my blogs are featured on the front. I actually like that. But I am still confused on two points:
(1) So are you saying I cannot get rid of the "lightning bolt?"
(2) And are you saying that if I get Elementor Pro I can have more control of the Homepage than either Wordpress' default editor or the dashboard will allow by themselves?
Thank you,
Bob
(1) So are you saying I cannot get rid of the "lightning bolt?"
That's not what I'm saying. That section is create with GP's header element:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/
You can edit it by following the first paragraph under the Header Element/Page Hero section of this article starting with "The first section after...."
https://gpsites.co/charge/?page_id=43
The part that cannot be edited is the list of posts - that's automatically generated by WordPress when you create Posts.
Maybe a quick article on how WordPress work would help:

Thanks, Leo.
I'm starting to figure it out.
Just taking a little longer than I thought.
Also seems to be benefits for adding elementor.
If you are not against Gutenberg editor, then I'd recommend trying GenerateBlocks before Elementor:
