I am using a staging site to change my theme to generate press. I like the look of some of the designs in the site library. However, the directions caution against using the site-library if you already have content on your site. I have content already on my site. Is there still a way to use the designs on the site-library even though I already have content? Thanks for the help!

Hi Cynthia,

Yes, you can still import styling from our site-library even when you already have a content BUT, it's not ideal if your site already has a bit of styling in it.

Most site library templates come with their custom CSS in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS. If your site already has a custom CSS in it and you import, it may mess things up.

Site library template won't mess with post contents though. It will only add dummy posts but will leave the existing ones alone. :D

Ok great. My site was originally designed by someone but it appears that the custom CSS that was with my original site did not transfer over to my staging site. So it looks like it would be ok to import from the styling guide. So you are saying I will just need to delete the dummy posts after doing so-correct? Thanks

That's right. :D

This applies to dummy pages as well. You may have to remove the dummy home page and blog page that has been assigned by the site library and re-assign the ones you're using for them. :D

Ok thanks so much :)

No problem. Stay safe! :D
