Just got some news that the good folks at Ezoic built a specific Child Theme for us
    GeneratePress Users. \(*<>*)/

I would love to use this as I’m running Ezoic Ads on my GeneratePress Website.

    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to install this nifty-fast GP-Ezoic-Leap Child on my site?
    2. If so how do I do it?
    3. Is there anything I should know
besides backing up? (Note: ManageWP backs up the site everyday and I can make a backup before installing the ‘Kid”.

For those who are interested here’s the link to the page that has the download link.

    Hi there,

should be no issue installing it … although i am not sure what Bloat they are aiming to remove lol
First issue is – have you tried downloading the Child Theme – as the link they provide is not working for me… might be worth asking their support on that.

    David!
Here’s the “LeapPress” child theme link. You need to scroll down to “Custom Child Themes Available for Download without Google Fonts”.

I tried it and was able to download it. However, I haven’t installed it.

Here’s the deal: The LeapPress Child theme “dequeues the Google Fonts and Font Awesome.” ie, filters out the Google fonts (GF) of the theme.

Question: If I’m using ‘computer fonts’ (Verdana, and Times), with GeneratePress, therefore, GF are not loaded and there’s really no need for this child theme. Is this correct?

Yes, if you’re using “System Stack” on the typography settings, then this means, the theme is not requesting any Google Fonts from Google servers. If that’s the sole purpose of why you’re going to install the child theme, then there’s no need to use it. 😀

Just in case this topic gets rediscovered, i thought i would check to see if the Child Theme was attached. And it has!
I had a look what it does:

    1. Removes Google Fonts from the customizer – and by all accounts doesn’t load any on the front end. Can’t see the benefit here. If you don’t want Google Fonts to load on the front end then don’t select any in the Customizer > Typography.

    2. Removes Font Awesome – odd, as GP hasn’t used Font Awesome for many versions now. Theres no need to dequeue a font that isn’t being enqueued.

    3. Removes the ability to edit the Copyright Notice in the Customizer > Layout > Footer ( GP Premium module ) and replaces the GeneratePress site info with an Ezoic one – lol

Thats about it…. would i use it ? err no.

David, thank you. Wonderful follow up.
And as to what I finally decided to do… I stuck with the GeneratePress Child and have had no problems, plus the site loads lickty-split on both my desk top and iPhone X!
