Can I “adapt” Broadcast to an existing GP website?

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to adapt the homepage style of Broadcast to an already existing GP website.

I really like the posts grid and want to use it to update the homepage of an existing site, which has a page and GP sections as frontpage (not latest posts).

Is it possible? Would I be better of with some Gutenberg posts block or something?

Thanks.

Álvaro

Hi Leo,

First of all, let me congratulate you for Broadcast and your other designs ;)

The current site is already using WP Show Posts in the homepage, with Sections: https://exitprostitution.org/ (also in other pages, like this).

But I've been asked to add more dynamic content to the frontpage, a specific post category to be exact.

I do like the way posts are presented in Broadcast's frontpage and am currently assessing what's the best approach to this change: move all to Gutenberg and forget Sections?

Thanks.

I really appreciate your compliment!! :)

Definitely stay away from Sections now if you can.

We just released the beta version of Generate Blocks which might help with this?

Let me know :)

Wow, totally new to me the Generate Blocks! Great move. Gonna give it a try.

Any idea if WP Show Posts is evolving to blocks any time soon?

Thanks.

Please do!

Unfortunately WP Show Posts won't be updated to blocks format soon.

You should be able to achieve something similar using GB's grid columns + shortcode blocks for WPSP though.

Sorry but too many things on the go so WPSP is lower on the priority :)

I get it. Pity though. It would, in some way, complete the circle.

Thanks.

Can I get that bigger first post with WPSP as in Broadcast frontpage?

Thanks.

Got it: I see there's a “Featured post” option in WPSP. Thanks!

No problem :)

Hi,

Reopening this ticket with a follow-up on your GenerateBlocks suggestion: any idea why the Container Block doesn't use the full-image size for background-image?

So, I'm rebuilding this homepage with GenerateBlocks, and when I choose an image as background-image in the Container Block, it doesn't use the full image (like the one used here, which is this), instead it is using a 1024x237 version.

Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Any chance you can open a new topic for this question?

It would make it easier for us to track all the issues related to Generate Blocks.

Thanks!

No problem Leo. I'll do it right ahead.

Thanks.

Thanks :)
