Built-in option to locally use Google Fonts

Hi,
I know that we have documentation on how to self-host Google Fonts, but I was wondering if it would be a possibility to add some feature to GeneratePress to handle all of this through the theme.
For example, the Page Builder Framework theme already claims to serve Google Fonts locally. I think we all know that there are many people out there that would love this type of feature. I consider Google Fonts as part of what GeneratePress offers, so it doesn't seem to be a feature used just by a few and that bloats the theme.
We would have the performance argument about fonts being cached across sites, but from what I read here this is not valid anymore.
So I just want to know if this has been discussed before, if there are plans to include it, and if not, why. Also if the decision was taken in the past, if it is time to think about it again with the recent changes on Google Fonts' performance regarding the caching matter.
Hi there,
the typography module is slated for an upgrade. And yes we're investing local storage as part of that upgrade.
Hi David!
Thanks for the information, those are great news. Do you already know in which version will this upgrade be released?
Regards
I can't say for definite - we'll be re-prioritising updates once GPP 2.0 has been released. But its up the top of the list.
Hi again David,
Are there any news on this?
We are still working on this :)
