Builder Suddenly Stopped working for certain containers with grids

As I was working on my client's website trying to implement Polylang, I went through the usual copy-paste routine for the language versioning, and then I noticed that some of my links (some were custom coded) stopped working - i.e. the links are not clickable even though the HTML is okay.
Oddly enough, the builder only allows me to select these faulty links with arrows, clicking them only selects the top-level container but nothing deeper within the page editor. If I save a page that has working links without any changes, the links stop working.
Any suggestions on what may be the issue?
Oh yea, I'm using plain GenerateBlocks with some Guttenberg block plugins that aren't that fancy if I may add.

can you select the Container Block, and in its spacing settings make sure the Inner Z-index is set to 1 or higher
